Greensboro, NC – Greensboro will welcome almost 1,000 delegates and guests from more than 15 states for Forum 2010, the annual conference for the National Forum for Black Public Administrators (NFBPA) on Saturday, April 24-28, 2010 to be held at the Sheraton Greensboro Hotel and Koury Convention Center. Greensboro will join the prestigious list of cities to host the Forum, which include Oakland, California, Little Rock, Arkansas and Phoenix, Arizona resulting in an estimated $1.2 million economic impact to the local economy.
Presented by the Triad chapter of the leading, national organization for black executives and public service workers, the 5-day conference will present a wide choice of interactive workshops, a public policy forum and social activities designed to educate and nurture current and future African Americans in the field of public administration on topics relevant to today’s Black community.
Among the collection of forum speakers, the NFPBA Forum 2010 will be hosted by Greensboro’s first African American city manager and NFBPA member Rashad Young, with featured inspirational speakers TV One commentator and contributor to The Situation Room and Anderson Cooper 360, Roland Martin; actor and best-selling author, Hill Harper; president of Bennett College, Dr. Julianne Malveaux; and state president for AT&T North Carolina, Cynthia G. Marshall.
Rashad Young says “We are proud to have been selected to host the Forum 2010 for NFBPA. The members of the Greensboro Chapter of NFBPA have been working together with the City, the Greensboro Area Convention & Visitors Bureau and area businesses to ensure that this is a memorable experience for all of the attendees."
NFBPA’s executive director John E. Saunders III says “Each year we seek to have the very best speakers, panelists, topic experts and presenters to help us strategize and prepare for the future.”
Most events will convene at the Hotel and Convention Center including the final event, Marks for Excellence Awards Banquet, which includes a special performance by jazz saxophonist Kim Waters. The conference’s premier social event “Paint the Town” will be held in Downtown Greensboro to include a visit to the recently opened International Civil Rights Center & Museum, a tour of the Cultural Arts Center and a concert in Center City Park.
